Baseball, the Boys of Summer, and Trade

Posted by Kevin Palmstein on Thursday, March 11, 2010 No Comments »
In the last couple of weeks, all of the Major League Baseball teams in the United States started their spring training. During this time of the year, players and managers shake off the rust from the winter and lace up their cleats for another long summer season. At Zepol, we are big baseball fans and we wanted to see what baseball products are imported and from where.

While many products used by MLB are made in the United States, particularly New Era caps and Louisville Slugger baseball bats, many products are still imported.

Below is a chart showing the countries of origin for leather baseball gloves by value:

Country of Origin of Baseball Gloves

Here is a trend of imported baseballs over the last 13 months by value:

Baseball is the sport that America exports to the rest of the world; however most of our baseball equipment exports stay close to home:

These statistics came from Zepol’s U.S. Census trade data tool, TradeView.
