Snow is coming, but where does the U.S. stock up from?

Winter is approaching in most of the United States; here in Minnesota the snow has already arrived, coating the Twin Cities with almost a foot of the white stuff. We are used to getting winter storms here, but it still sends unprepared people to the stores to buy shovels, boots, and jackets. With the rest of the northern half of the country waiting for their first storm, we wanted to take a look at where winter-related items come from and see their seasonal trends.

As many in the Midwest and Northeast know, snowplows are essential for ensuring you can get out of your driveway. Based on the U.S. Customs data for snowplow-related shipments, a peak happens in July as retailers and distributors prepare for winter.
